1. The Department of Classics at Princeton University announces a position in medieval Latin at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2016.

The successful candidate should combine great scholarly promise with an ability to teach medieval Latin at the undergraduate and graduate levels. S/he will also contribute to teaching and developing interdisciplinary medieval studies courses in translation as well as to our beginning Latin sequence. The field(s) of specialization is open, but teaching and advising responsibilities will cover the entire chronological range of medieval Latin from ca. 400 to 1400 CE. Expertise in paleography and/or textual transmission is desirable.

Review of applications will start November 15, 2015. Applicants who wish to be considered for interviews at the SCS meeting in San Francisco should have all materials submitted by that date. It is expected that the candidate will have the PhD in hand by September 1, 2016.

3. Assistant Professor in Medieval Europe, History Dept., University of Pennsylvania

The Department of History at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Medieval Europe, field and period open. The candidate will participate in the undergraduate and graduate teaching mission of the Department. Receipt of the PhD is expected by the time of appointment.

5. Two Research Associates (PhD positions), University of Münster

The DFG-Sonderforschungsbereich/Collaborative Research Centre 1150 “Cultures of Decision-making” at the University of Münster invites applications for 2 Research Associates [Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterinnen/Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (PhD student positions)] in Project C02 “The Role of the Supernatural in Procedures of Imperial Decision-making in the Byzantine Empire from the 6th to the 12th Centuries” under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Michael Grünbart at the earliest possible date.

The positions will be fixed-term during the first phase of the Sonderforschungsbereich/ Collaborative Research Centre 1150 until 30 June 2019. Currently, the regular employment time is 26 hours and 33 minutes per week. All posts can, as a rule, also be filled as part-time positions if there are no compelling work-related reasons against doing so.

6. University Lecturer position (ideally in the Medieval Mediterranean), Montréal (UQAM)

The history department at the Université de Québec, Montréal is looking for a medievalist, ideally specialising in the history of the Mediterranean world. The job starts on 1 June 2016, but application can be made until 5pm (local time), 2 October 2015.
